New graphics card: $60.
New hard drive: $130.
1 gigabyte RAM: $100.
Microsoft XP ain’t broke, so I don’t need this stuff: priceless.”

Its not a true comparison by any measure.

Microsoft XP ain’t broke? Are you kidding me? Microsoft XP is terribly broken. The problem isn’t that XP isn’t broken; it’s that Vista isn’t a compelling upgrade, being such a resource hog and offering so little besides cosmetic improvement and things which should have been fixed in XP without charge to begin with.

[…] Huh, I guess it is true. You can save lot of pain and hardache buy getting a fully-capable MacMini for about the same price. And chances are that your monitor, keyboard, and printer will work right when you plug them in - which can’t really be said for Vista at this point. […]

Hellman109, I understand your point and was a Windows and even Linux user for a long time, however after using Mac OS X (there’s only one variety save Server which is what it says) you’ll see that Bottom of the range and Mac can’t be in the same sentence together.
Its like saying Bottom of the range Louis Vutton or Bottom of the Range Ferrari.
You’ll notice the Mac Mini comes with Dual Core 64 Bit Intel Chips running the same operating environment that corporations receive, as opposed to a “Bottom of the Range” edition of Vista, which has faxing, dvd burning, Aero effects, backing up and much more disabled.
Come try out the Apple world, start with a new orange shuffle and I’m sure you’ll come to appreciate not having to decide which is “Top of the Range” or “Bottom of the Range” but rather what works for you, thats how you buy clothes, watch movies and date girls, isn’t it how you’d like to buy your electronics too?

Berkana, you’re right but I was quoting verbatim. and your point is and will be discussed for a few years more.
Microsoft (as presented by Bill Gates in the last 24 hours here looks a little lost.

I ran Vista on a 3 year old computer with all of the special effects without any problems. Things like this are misleading because they pretend like everyone in the world will have to upgrade their hardware, but it’s just not true. Besides, no one expects XP to run on a 10 year old computer, why should Vista have to run on a 5 year old computer.
